How to Use Backflow Incense Cones

By following these steps—selecting the right burner, lighting the cone, and positioning it correctly—you can enjoy both the aroma and the enchanting sight of cascading smoke.

Backflow incense cones are a unique and captivating way to enjoy incense. Unlike traditional incense, which allows smoke to rise upwards, backflow incense is designed to produce a cascading effect where the smoke flows downward, creating a waterfall-like visual. Here’s a simple guide to help you use backflow incense cones and enjoy their mesmerizing effect.

Choose the Right Backflow Burner

To use backflow incense cones, you’ll need a special backflow incense burner. These burners are designed with a small hole or channel to guide the smoke downwards, creating the waterfall effect. They come in various shapes and designs, often featuring steps, bowls, or platforms to showcase the flowing smoke.

Prepare the Area

Place your backflow incense burner on a stable, heat-resistant surface in a well-ventilated space. Make sure to keep it away from flammable materials such as curtains or paper. Backflow incense tends to release a lot of smoke, so choose an area that is comfortable for your practice and free from strong drafts that could disturb the smoke flow.

Light the Backflow Incense Cone

  • Hold the backflow incense cone by the base, with the narrower, hollow end facing up.
  • Using a match or lighter, gently light the tip of the cone.
  • Allow the tip to burn for about 5-10 seconds, then blow out the flame. The tip should begin to smoulder and produce smoke.

Position the Incense Cone on the Burner

Once the incense cone is smouldering, carefully place it on the designated spot on your backflow incense burner. Ensure that the hollow section at the base of the cone aligns with the small hole or channel on the burner. This alignment is what creates the backflow effect, guiding the smoke downward.

Watch the Magic Happen

As the incense cone smoulders, the smoke will start to flow through the hollow base and down the burner’s channels or steps. The mesmerizing downward flow of smoke creates a beautiful and calming visual, often resembling mist or a waterfall. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the soothing effects of the incense and its hypnotic movement.

Keep Safety in Mind

While enjoying the backflow incense, always ensure proper fire safety. Do not leave the burning incense unattended and keep it away from pets or children. After the cone has finished burning, the ash will remain in the burner, so allow it to cool completely before disposing of it.

Clean Your Incense Burner

Backflow incense can leave a residue on your burner, so it’s a good idea to clean it regularly. Simply wipe the burner with a damp cloth after each use to remove any excess ash or buildup, ensuring your burner remains clean and functional for future use.

Using backflow incense cones creates a stunning visual experience, with smoke flowing like a waterfall. Whether for relaxation, meditation, or simply as a beautiful display, backflow incense brings an added dimension to your incense practice.
